Hello [Firstname],

This month GrowthForce is excited to share an update from the Intuit Solution Provider Conference in Chicago earlier this month. The conference provided a peek into the future, including an overview of the new features of QuickBooks 2010.

Learn about all this, QuickBooks and Vistage tips and more, right here in the October eNews.

QUICKBOOKS 2010

GrowthForce attended the Intuit Solution Providers’ Summit in Chicago in early October to be among the first to preview QuickBooks 2010 and hear about a host of new QuickBooks services.

Margaret has used and studied QuickBooks since its inception in the early ‘90s and taught QuickBooks for Real World Training, Intuit’s only training partner, for five years.

GROWTHFORCE RECEIVES HBJ HONORS

GrowthForce has received its second accolade from the Houston Business Journal in two months. In September, we were honored as an HBJ 2009 Power Five at the Fast 100 luncheon. This month, we were chosen by HBJ as a Fast Tech 50 company. Both are based on percentage growth in revenues.

QUICKBOOKS TIP

Don’t Use Journal Entries

Like most people with accounting degrees, we learned to correct mistakes using journal entries. That is also where we learned: “debits to the window, credits to the door.” Just don’t move your desk.

In QuickBooks, we suggest that you almost never use a journal entry to correct a mistake. Journal entries don’t use “Items” and items are the backbone of all the subsidiary reports in QuickBooks. For example, when you run job profitability reports, the costs recorded by journal entries do not show up on the Profit & Loss by job reports. As a result, journal entries are often a big mistake – despite what we learned in Accounting 101.

VISTAGE TIP

There are two elements crutial to a business’ success. Learn what they are in this month’s Vistage Tip:The Secret to Customer Loyalty and Employee Performance. Click here for the article.
